IBM Team visits Concpeción and Talcahuano

IBM Chile Team 2 had the kick-off meeting for the current projects last Monday, August 8th, in Concepción.  The goal is to provide tailored projects and consulting to different ONGs and Institutions such as Manos del Biobio, Trabajo para un Hermano, AcciónEmprendedora and I.Municipality of Talcahuano and, on the other side, learn from the Chileans.

Every sub-team has had a great welcome and is now working on the deliverables, but not without knowing the social and structural background of each institution.

As Chile has a lot to offer in terms of tourism, the team also plans to visit Concepción´s surrounding area of the Andes like Nevados de Chillán, National Parks, Pucón and others.

IBM Chile Team 2

HelloChile, CDS (Corporate Development Solutions) e IBM lanzaron este lunes los nuevos proyectos de asesorías a ONG y Organizaciones Sin Fines de Lucro de la zona. Las personas provienen de Australia, China, India, Holanda, Alemania, EEUU y Canadá y trabajan en las ONG Manos del BioBio, Trabajo para un Hermano, AcciónEmprendedora y la I.Municipalidad de Talcahuano.

Como el Equipo se queda en la zona por un mes, va a visitar los alrededores de Concepción como la Cordillera, Parques Nacionales, Pucón, y otros.

HelloChile estaba a cargo de un grupo de doce (12) jóvenes profesionales de IBM desde la etapa inicial, la planificación, hasta su partida el 11 de junio de 2011. El grupo fue dividido en cinco (5) teams, que realizaban alguna labor en una de las varias ONG de la zona de Concepción.

Tales labores eran: Ordenar y reprogramar bases de datos, analizar y mejorar procesos y procedimientos internos, etc. (¡Vídeo aquí!)

El grupo también aprovechaba de visitar a algunas zonas turísticas de la Región del Biobio y la Región de la Araucanía como: Pucón, Viñas en al Valle del Itata, Valle Las Trancas, Parque Nacional Nahuelbuta, Cobquecura, etc.

El segundo grupo de IBM viene en agosto y se queda hasta septiembre, realizando el mismo tipo de labores de asesorías.

Halbinsel Hualpén

Am schönsten ist es, mit dem Rad die Halbinsel von Hualpén zu erkunden. Nehmen Sie die Costanera und biegen Sie, Richtung Talcahuano fahrend, vor PetroQuim links ab.

Schon bald befinden Sie sich auf einer Forststrasse und mitten im Urwald, wobei immer wieder grandiose Aussichtspunkte auf den Pazifik zur Rast einladen.

Fischerdorf Chome

Chome ist ein Fischerdorf auf der Halbinsel von Hualpén, in der sich auch eine ehemalige Walfangstation befindet. Besonders Hobbyfischer und Hobbytaucher lieben die Bucht von Chome, da sich auf dessen Grund viele Walknochen befinden. Das Wasser ist kristallklar.

Die Bucht von Ramuntcho

Etwa zwanzig Radminuten von Chome befindet sich die Bucht von Ramuntcho, deren weisser Sand berühmt ist. In der Bucht wird geschwommen, Sonne getankt und Taucher erkunden die Höhlen.

Peninsula Hualpén

The best way to discover the Peninsula of Hualpén is by bike. Start your ride in Concepción, then take the Costanera towards Talcahuano and turn left just before PetroPower.

Leave the big industries behind you and just follow the dirt road out into the green. There is only little traffic as only campesinos or Huasos (people from the countryside) live there.

Fishing village Chome

Cross native woods and breathe clean air coming from the Pacific ocean, offering some awsome views on the coastline, especially on your way to Chome, a fishing village with a former whale factory.

Scuba-divers say the crystal-clear water offers a picturesque under-water scenery with whale bones at the bottom of the bay.

Ramuntcho Bay

Another nearby spot is the Bay of Ramuntcho where a white-sanded beach awaits you.  People usually go swimming there, take sun and some go scuba diving to the caves just beside the bay.

It was a very nice evening with folk songs from Austria, songs from the English speaking world and Latin America.

The concert took place at the Universidad de Concepción and was part of the commemorations of the 27/F 2010.

En esta ocasión, HelloChile hizo las traducciones e interpretaciones durante la visita de inspección, realizada por un especialista sueco en una planta de paneles (terciado). El sistema consiste de detectores de chispas y es altamente confiable. Si uno de los detectores acciona, se inicia una reacción en cadena en que se activa un sistema de duchas de agua.

El proyecto se llevó a cabo cerca de Concepción.
