Hello-Chile

This is the Laguna Grande, a picturesque lake in the neighbourhood commune of San Pedro de La Paz (bus line 40), just across Chile´s broadest river, the Bio Bio. The penquistas (inhabitants of Concepción usually go there for a walk with their chiledren / kids and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the woods and the water. There are also a roaming, a wind surf and a sailing club.

Dies ist die Laguna Grande, ein malerisch gelegener See in der Gemeinde von San Pedro de La Paz (Linie 40), gleich am anderen Ufer des breitesten Flusses Chiles, dem Bio Bio, gelegen. Die Penquistas (Einwohner von Concepción) gehen an ihrem Ufer mit ihren Kindern spazieren und geniessen die entspannte Atmosphäre der umliegenden Wälder und des Wassers. Weiters gibt es einen Ruder-,  Surf- und Segel Club.

Concepción is incredible!

Only two months after the 2010 grade 8.8 earthquake, Concepción has come back to (almost) normal conditions. The traffic is still restricted in the center as the construction works go on, but the Chilean Government sponsors the public transportation- a bus ticket costs 350.- and the Biotrén, the train between San Pedro de La Paz and Concepción, is in perfect conditions. Besides, the Ruta de la Madera is being repaired and all other main roads and highways like the Ruta 5 Sur or Panamerican Highway are not damaged. Although some appartment houses have been severely damaged, the housing situation is still good and there is a broad variety of rooms, appartments and houses available.
